On January 1, 2004, after much prayer Octavio accepted the invitation to serve as the Hispanic Ministry Leader at First Baptist Alabaster. His duties as Hispanic minister are:

• Organize visitation – Octavio organizes visitation and follows-up with possible prospects.
• Bible Lessons – Octavio leads Bible classes on Sunday morning and Wednesday night.
• Worship Service – He leads the Hispanic worship service.
• General Preparation – He studies and prepares for each week's Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study lesssons, and also the Sunday morning message in the Worship service.
• Family Counseling, Legal, School and Medical Assistance – For Octavio and his wife Rosie this is a daily task and one that is necessary in reaching out to the Hispanic culture in the community.
• Liaison – Octavio also serves as liaison between the English speaking and Hispanic congregations in order to build good relationships between them.
• Staff Meetings – Octavio attends staff meetings every other Monday.
• ESL – Octavio helps with the development of English as a Second Language classes.

Octavio by profession has an Electrical Engineering Degree. He is presently working on being ordained and attending seminary. Octavio, served honorably for four years in the United States Air Force. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked in the electrical engineering field for twenty-one years.

Octavio has been blessed with Rosie, his wonderful wife, their son, Blake (19), and their daughter, Ainsley (14). All three are a tremendous help to Octavio with the Hispanic ministry at FBCA.

Octavio enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys tennis, surfing and doing construction projects (Honey-Do's) around the house.
